Tour Overview

Embark on an unforgettable high-altitude road journey starting from the plains of Guwahati up into the spiritual heart of the Eastern Himalayas. This meticulously planned itinerary scales across the famous Sela Pass ($13,700\text{ ft}$), stops at centuries-old Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, and reveals pristine waterfalls tucked inside valleys untouched by commercialization.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Receive a warm welcome at Guwahati Airport/Railway Station. Drive through changing landscape contours towards Bhalukpong—the entry gate of Arunachal Pradesh. Complete entry permissions and check into your eco-lodge beside the Kameng River.

Drive through sub-tropical forests towards Dirang Valley. On the way, visit the Tipi Orchid Sanctuary housing thousands of exotic orchid species. Spend your evening exploring the regional Kiwi plantations and checking out the centuries-old Dirang Dzong (fortress village).

Scale alpine trails over the majestic Sela Pass ($13,700\text{ ft}$). Stop to capture the breathtaking beauty of Paradise Lake (Sela Lake). Pay respects at the Jaswant Garh War Memorial before descending into the historic mountain town of Tawang.

Explore the legendary Tawang Monastery—the second-largest active Buddhist monastery in the world, founded in 1681. Later, visit the Giant Buddha Statue, the Tawang War Memorial light show, and experience interacting with local Monpa artisans.

Take a local high-clearance SUV to visit the Indo-China border outpost at Bum La Pass ($15,200\text{ ft}$). On your return journey, explore the stunning Sangetsar Lake (popularly known as Madhuri Lake), surrounded by stark dead trees standing amidst crystal-clear waters.

Begin your return loop driving back down towards Bomdila. View the spectacular Nuranang Waterfalls (Jung Falls) plunging nearly $100\text{ meters}$. Arrive in Bomdila by afternoon, and catch beautiful panoramic views of the clouds hanging over the valley from the Bomdila Monastery viewpoint.

Conclude your journey with an early morning drive back down to the plains of Assam. Arrive in Guwahati by evening for your onward flight or train departure, carrying memories of an alpine world left behind.
